In conjunction with the 114th annual Memorial Day Pilgrimage to Saint Tikhon’s Monastery, South Canaan, PA, the monastery’s Chamber Choir will perform Rachmaninov’s acclaimed All-Night Vigil at Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Cathedral, 35 South Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA on Sunday evening, May 27, 2018 at 7:30 p.m.
Under the direction of Benedict Sheehan, Director of Music and Assistant Professor of Liturgical Music at Saint Tikhon’s Seminary, the Monastery Chamber Choir features some of the finest singers from across the region and beyond. It’s annual Memorial Day Pilgrimage weekend concert is increasingly recognized as a highlight of the region’s artistic season, especially with the growing interest in Russian Orthodox choral music. The Chamber Choir offers a unique perspective on the genre through its connection with the spiritual life of the monastery and the 1000-year-old unbroken tradition of Russian Orthodox liturgical worship.
The concert is open to the public. Tickets may be purchased online or by calling 888-454-6678.
