South Canaan, Pa. — The Alumni Association of St. Tikhon’s Seminary is holding a 24-hour retreat on August 31 – September 1.

All alumni are welcome to attend at no cost, and there will be an opportunity for those who live far away to register for an online broadcast of the seminars and annual meeting.

Featured speakers include Drs. David and Mary Ford; participants in the full retreat will earn five continuing education credits.

“As with last year’s hugely successful retreat, we are once again hoping alumni will take advantage of this opportunity to earn continuing education credits, catch up with fellow alumni, participate in the Monastery services, and spend time with current and incoming seminarians,” said Fr. Patrick Burns, president of the association, said. “This year we will be having an informal round of golf prior to the start of events at the seminary, all in the hopes of bolstering more alumni fellowship.”

Thursday’s session with Dr. Mary Ford will be:  “The Eternality of Marriage and a Case Study of Biblical Exegesis”.  Friday’s session with Dr. David will be:  “Sing to Your Soul – A Festival of Wisdom on the Christian Life in the Writings of St. John Chrysostom, with special emphasis on dealing with despondency: the Letters of St. John Chrysostom to the Deaconess St. Olympia”.  In addition to the seminars, there will be a small group discussion session, and prayer in the monastery church.

A flyer which includes the retreat’s schedule is available for download and printing here.

“We hope this retreat, developed from a suggestion by our alumni, is now on its way to becoming a new tradition, fostering deeper relationships among alumni and current seminarians over time,” Archpriest Steven Voytovich, STOTS Dean, said.

To inquire about the retreat or to register, contact Marshall Goodge at 570.561.1818, ext. 101 or by e-mail:  mgoodge@stots.edu

Donations to support this new initiative are also welcome.

“The Alumni Association plans to cover the cost of holding this event, including food, instruction, and the online component,” Fr. Burns said. “To do so we need your support.”
