On Friday, August 19, following Divine Liturgy, the Administrator of the Patriarchal Parishes in the USA, His Grace Bishop John of Naro-Fominsk, led the Funeral service for the newly-departed world-renowned sculptor, Ernst Neizvestny (in Holy Baptism – Julian) in St. Nicholas Cathedral. 

The funeral drew not only his wife and family, but also many admirers of the late sculptor’s work. At the conclusion of the service, Bishop John addressed those gathered with his condolences and underlined that in newly-departed’s challenging life-journey, showed an example of faith, patience and courage that earned him the deserved respect and love not only as a renowned sculptor, but also a Orthodox Christian.

On August 20, Bishop John will lead the Litya and Burial of Ernst Neizvestny in Shelter Island, NY.
